The founder of the Academy of Mixed Martial Science, Coach Jeremy Pollack has been studying the martial arts for over 20 years. He is a Black Belt in Freestyle Hapkido, a grey belt in Tew Ryu Ninjitsu, a certified instructor in Muay Thai Kickboxing, and holds blue belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Kenpo Karate, and Wing Chun Kung Fu. In addition to hand-to-hand combat, he is proficient in knife, kali stick, staff, cane, hand gun, nunchaku, and sword. He has trained under some of the world’s most respected teachers, including Master Ken Doyle (Hapkido), Sensei Rick Tew (Ninjitsu), Kru Paulo Tocha (Muay Thai), Grandmaster Carl Totton (Shaolin and Kenpo), and Master Eric Oram (Wing Chun); as well as several respected MMA fighters, including former UFC Champions Pat Miletich and Bas Rutten.
Coach Jeremy is also a long-time practitioner and student of psychology and the internal arts. He has trained in Taoist meditation under Taoist Priest Carl Totton and Dr. Kay Calvin, Yogic or Vedic meditation at the Self-Realization Fellowship, and Buddhist meditation at the Shambhala Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Coach Jeremy studied cognitive psychology under Dr. Terry Preston and Dr. Carol Schneider, as well as transpersonal psychology and personal development coaching under Coach Paul Bob Velick.In addition to his spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical training,
Coach Jeremy is a writer, musician, filmmaker, and entrepreneur. He has had several written works published, various musical compositions broadcast, and has directed, produced, or assisted in a variety of films at the independent and studio levels. Currently, he runs the Academy of Mixed Martial Science, one of the largest martial arts studios in the city of Los Angeles; he is the publisher and editor of FORTH magazine, Los Angeles’ only arts and literary publication; and he is the Vice-President & Co-Founder of LA SEO, a boutique online marketing agency. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Southern California (USC). Additionally, Coach Jeremy has served as a volunteer for the LAPD, assisting with intake and report processing at the Pacific Division. Currently, he is a Research Assistant at UCLA's Department of Anthropology, where his main research areas include social and evolutionary psychology, fear and emotion's role in society, and cognitive threat assessment. Coach Jeremy is also currently a Taoist Priest-in-Training under the American Dragon Gate Lineage and is expected to be ordained as a priest in 2014. He holds, above all else, his close relationships with his family and friends to be the most important aspects of life, and wishes only to continue expanding his circle as he makes the Academy of Mixed Martial Science his extended family as well.
